Week of April 29th - May 3rd, 2024
This week we:
- Practiced solving different open number sentences in algebra before completing a check-in about apple picking to demonstrate our ability to create related algebraic expressions and word problems with pictures
- Analyzed the CBE Student Code of Conduct and brainstormed what this means at school prior to completing our own reflection about each of the expectations according to which ones we felt we followed all the time, sometimes, or rarely
- Wrote our scripts and recorded our Flipgrid videos for our Book Talk about our selected picture book for the Caldecott competition
- Started to learn about the prefix "ad" and the other chamelon forms it has
- Completed our Literacy Stations in the our new groupings as well as reviewed expectations for each station
- Finished recording our Flipgrids about mixtures and solutions based on a lab we completed in Science
- Spent time with Elder Frank, a Blackfoot elder, as he shared different teachings and stories with the students
- Learned how to play "Skyline" using cuisine rods and our understanding of balanced algebraic equations
- Wrote our monthly letter to Miss Gadbois about our favourite part of the month, what we're excited about for Middle School, or any topic of our choosing
- Made table of values for different patterns we created before using these patterns to create friendship bracelets
- Shared our rose and thorn from the week during Community Circle where we each shared our favourite and least favourite part of the week
Reminders:
- Wednesday, May 8th - SPIRIT DAY – Hats On for Mental Health Day! Students may wear any hat or head covering that they wish on this day to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health.
- Thursday, May 9th - Nose Creek Open House: Students are able to visit Nose Creek School from 5:45 - 6:30 to walk around the school and meet some of the teachers
