Monday, November 8th/Tuesday, November 9th, 2021

Hi All! 

We are enjoying our short week of classes and have been hard at work before the students go on their well-deserved extra long weekend. 

On Monday we: 

• Practiced our fluency skills by Reading to Someone
• Began to learn about the 5 different strategies we can use to write Fully Elaborated Main Events
• Learned how to play Solitaire in Math using the Power of Ten cards
• Read a book called, "What is Peace" and had a class discussion
• Worked on the CBE Design Challenge in Minecraft

Today we: 

• Started to create a Class Model using the strategies for writing Fully Elaborated Main Events
• Created our class poppy wreath for the Remembrance Day Ceremony tomorrow
• Wrote down some new questions we have about what's happening in "The Jumbies"
• Did a book exchange at the Learning Commons
• Learned how to play Face-Off in Math using the Power of Ten cards

Reminders:

• Remembrance Day Ceremony - Wednesday, November 10th 2021 (in the morning at approx. 10:40am)
• Northern Lights School would like to ask all students and staff to bring a toonie for a poppy as part of our fundraiser for the poppy fund. You can bring the money in for the poppy anytime this week. Thank you very much!
• NO SCHOOL - on Thursday, November 11th 2021 (CBE is closed on Remembrance Day)
• NO SCHOOL - on Friday, November 12th 2021 (it is a PD Day, Staff are at schools, but no students) - we will see you all back in school on Monday, November 15th 2021!
