Week of April 22nd - 26th, 2024

This week we:

Used balance scales to check our work when solving algebraic equations
Finished our Human Sexuality unit by learning about the Journey of the Egg, Journey of the Sperm, and Reproduction
Played our different literacy games with our Word Work groups to ensure we were able to teach our families how to play during Literacy Night
Learned about the prefix "trans" and different verbs and people and objects that have this prefix
Worked diligently on our Level Up Calgary Minecraft builds, scripts, and videos to submit for the competition ending this week
Learned about the "Guess and Check" strategy using the inverse operation when solving for unknown variables in an algebraic expression
Played a game of Capture the Flag outside with another Grade 5 class for P.E.
Solved the value of unknown shapes using a virtual pan balance activity to practice using our algebra skills
Went on a Scavenger Hunt for Literacy Week to solve a secret message
Created a thank you poster for our evening custodian, Mr. Pedro, for Support Staff Week
Participated in a school-wide "Read Out" where we read outside to wrap up Literacy Week for Field Study Friday
