Happy Wednesday, Families!

We had a great day in Grade 5. I was happy to be back with the kiddos today. Yesterday they had a fabulous substitute, one of my old colleagues, in the classroom while I was attending some Professional Development about writing.

Today we:

  • Began to learn about Word Referents and how we can use them in their writing
  • Rotated an irregular shape using its vertices and an alternate coordinate as the point of rotation
  • Learned more about some of the fictional "jumbies" that have been introduced in our read-aloud novel and discussed why adults might tell children this folklore stories in the Haitian culture
  • Played the Animal Game in Science to learn about producers, herbivores, carnivores, and decomposers
  • Started to outline our pictures in our 40 Traits Art Project

Halloween Update - lots of students have been asking - Next Friday, October 29th students can dress in "black and orange" or wear costumes, if they want. Only "appropriate" costumes are allowed (no fake blood, masks, fake weapons, etc). Mrs. Brinson has also sent out information regarding costumes. Please give that a read!
