Week of May 13th - 16th, 2024
This week we:
- Completed a Graphing Patterns Check-In as we demonstrate our understanding of the Patterns unit
- Engaged in a 3-Act Task comparing the size of two different pieces of cut paper to start our Area and Perimeter unit
- Started our new Read-Aloud, "The City of Ember" and received job assignments like the characters do in the book
- Completed the last two rounds of our Caldecott Competition before narrowing our picks down to the final four books
- Learned about the "ex" prefix and the other forms it can take
- Continued learning about the different Indigenous groups in Canada, such as the different West Coast Indigenous groups, before conducting our own research on the other groups to support us in creating a poster symbolizing the most important information we had learned
- Worked in our Word Work groups to play different games to practice our different spelling focuses
Reminders:
- May 21 through 24 – Cultural Appreciation Week
- May 22 – SPIRIT DAY: Wear a Favourite Outfit or Special Item Day – Students and staff are encouraged to dress to celebrate their culture or to wear something that is important / special to them or to their family. (This could be a hat, jewelry, a shirt, shoes, an outfit, etc.)
May 23 – Pizza Fun Lunch
