 Today we: 

  • Wrote our weekly Letter to Miss Gadbois
  • Learned about food chains and food webs and began our research by discovering if our chosen wetland animal was a producer, consumer, or decomposer
  • Watched and voted on each others' submissions for the Minecraft CBE Design Challenge
  • Listed to Mrs. Brinson read the book, "Share Some Kindness Bring Some Light" and wrote down ways we could show kindness 
  • Went outside and made observations using our senses about how the weather has shifted during Field Study Friday
Updates: 

As we head into December, we have planned special activities and Spirit Days for the last 10 school days before Winter Break to help students feel some joy, build a sense of community, and capture some memories. We wanted families to have some time to prepare so their children could participate where possible. 
Monday, December 6 – Classroom Door Decorating Contest / North Pole Ninja Random Acts of Kindness activities begin and continue for the next two weeks 
Tuesday, December 7 – SPIRIT DAY - “Dress Like You’re Going on Vacation” Day 
Wednesday, December 8 – Cards for Seniors Day (We will be writing messages for seniors in Newport Harbour Long-Term Care and Assisted Living Facilities that could use a little love and joy.) 
Thursday, December 9 – SPIRIT DAY – Wear Red & Green Day 
Friday, December 10 – SPIRIT DAY - Pajama Day / Door Decorating Voting Day  
Monday, December 13 – SPIRIT DAY - “Dress to Impress” Day (Wear an outfit you would wear to a favourite family celebration (such as for Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s, Chinese New Year, etc.) 
Tuesday, December 14 - Deadline for photos to be sent to mlbrinson@cbe.ab.ca for our NLS Winter Family Traditions iMovie
  • By highlighting everyone's celebrations, both students and families will be able to see the different traditions celebrated during different holidays, such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, and Kwanzaa, just to name a few, and learn to celebrate our differences while learning more about each other.
  • Pictures can be of your family:
    • making cards or gifts
    • baking cookies
    • decorating a Christmas tree
    • hanging stockings
    • putting up lights
    • visiting Zoo Lights or the Festival of Lights
    • building a snowman
    • ice skating at Bowness Park or a place you love
    • tobogganing, skiing or snowboarding
    • winter camping
    • giving back to nature
    • lighting candles
    • singing or dancing
    • wrapping presents
    • volunteering
    • doing anything that represents a tradition that you have during the winter season​​​​​​​
